Dawn Sagar is a
nationally exhibiting artist originally from
Fort Collins, Colorado. She teaches
part time at Mesa State College and will be
exhibiting her works in 2010 in the North
Gallery here at The Art Center. What is
amazing about Dawn's work is her accuracy
with the media combined with a stunning
expressive stroke. Students will learn
about use of color, composition and go
beyond the pictorial into the experience of
truly understanding the sensuality
of the act of painting. Dawn Sagar combines the
representational with the power of mood
provoking timelessness.

Experimental Watercolor Techniques and
Mixed Media

Gayle
Gerson is teaching this class to give
students lots of practice in working with
watercolor, liquid acrylics and inks to
create beautiful composition, both
representational and abstract.
Students will learn many experimental
techniques, including pouring and masking,
using different paper supports and creating
a pleasing composition that releases the
sparkle of the artist's personality.
Class time will be devoted to experimenting
with art exercises that expand creativity
and build compositional skills, allowing
plenty of time for individual work.
This class is open to all levels from the
artistic dabbler to the working artist

observational skills rather than a
formalized step-by-step approach and
encourages artistic interpretation and
subject individuality There will be a
series of fun, but challenging exercises
exploring elements of drawing and various
types of drawing media.

Come draw at The
Art Center for 8 sessions in January and
February. There is no
instructor or materials supplied.
Artists can use art center easels, tables
and drawing horses. The artists will
be supplied a model. Please do
not bring toxic or odorous materials into
the studio. Artists must be at least
18 years of age to draw from the nude
models.

The focus in this class will be learning to
see and interpret subject matter with an
emphasis on expressive painting. We
will discuss the basics of composition,
value and color. Three of the classes
will involve a nude model.
