Texture with Textile I

With Jan Rickman

Saturday, December 13

9:00 - 4:00pm

 Members $75/ Non-members $85

Deadline for Registration is November 29th

Texture, texture, texture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you would like your fiber artwork to sing, add texture!  In this full-day workshop you will learn and explore sewing techniques for adding interesting textures and dimensions to your art quilts and fiber artwork.  You will also learn how to create your very own fabric using free-motion sewing techniques.  These techniques can be utilized in many ways in your artwork, wearable accessories or clothing.  Your imagination and free spirit will be unleashed once you begin incorporating these skills into your work.

In the morning session Jan will demonstrate several texturizing techniques, utilizing a sewing machine.  Students will then have the opportunity to try these out and begin experimenting on their own.

In the afternoon session, students will learn how to make their own fabric utilizing free motion stitching techniques and water-soluble stabilizer.

Intermediate or higher sewing skills and a sewing machine with the ability to lower the feed dogs are required.  Students must provide items on the supply list.  If a student cannot provide the items shown in section A of the supply list, or if he/she would like to enhance their own supplies for the class, a kit may be purchased during the class for $20.
